Job Description
Cycle City Tours was founded from a love for touring Vancouver by bike, and a belief that bike rides are always better when shared with friends. Since 2010 we’ve been sharing stories, laughs, and new experiences with riders from Vancouver and across the world. Through our guided tours, we tell captivating stories about what’s really going on in the city beyond the glimmering glass towers and incredible coastal and mountain views (though we never get tired of our beautiful city!) All of our staff are passionate, connected Vancouverites who have a love for bike riding, telling stories, and meeting new people.
This position is extremely important to our tour operations. The successful candidates will not only run the day to day in the tour shop itself but will be cross trained as a guide. Tour desk support will be scheduled guiding shifts based on tour volume and necessity.
What we’re looking for:
Multitasking: Ability to juggle multiple tasks and keep track of outgoing and incoming tour groups.
Computer Savvy: Proficiency with tools like Google Office suite and POS software such as Fareharbor, and Lightspeed will be key to your role.
Vancouver Knowledge: We’re looking for someone who has a curiosity and passion for the city, its food scene, culture, and events. Special knowledge in areas like city planning, local art, environment, or history is a huge plus!
Natural Storyteller: A passion for storytelling and speaking in front of groups is essential. If you’ve got theater or acting experience, even better!
Guest Service Enthusiast: You will interact with guests of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment at all times.
Reliable & Enthusiastic: We’re looking for someone who is punctual, dependable, and shows up ready to work with energy and enthusiasm.
Flexible & Proactive: A willingness to learn new skills, think on your feet, and work independently in an ever-changing environment is essential.
Availability: Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays, with flexibility throughout the busy months (May to September).
Language Skills: Fluency in English is required. If you speak French, Spanish, German, Dutch or any other languages fluently, that’s a fantastic asset!
We are looking for top-notch Tour Support staff who can provide our guests with exceptional and unforgettable experiences when they arrive at our tour shop. We’ll also be training candidates with appropriate skill sets as a guide so you can head out and fill in for our guide team in the event of extra bookings, sick call outs or general peak season volume.
What are we looking for?
Ability to multitask and keep track of multiple conversations at once, responding quickly and kindly to questions while receiving new information about outgoing tour groups
Strong communication skills: We need someone who can be friendly, genuine and personable with tour guests, other guides, management and other departments. Communicating effectively and efficiently.
Computer savvy: You’ll want to know your way around google sheets, gmail, and be able to write an email quickly as well as be able to get up to speed on various backend apps. We also utilise Yonder Chatbot, Fareharbor and Lightspeed on a daily basis.
