Job Description

Whistler Olympic Park is a world-class destination for outdoor recreation activities & Nordic sports, located just south of Whistler in the stunning Callaghan Valley. Established for the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games, the Park’s incredible facilities are now enjoyed by both high-performance athletes and recreational guests alike.

Trail Maintenance Operations is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of all outdoor trails, roads and parking lots at Whistler Olympic Park. Good care of machinery and attention to detail are required to be successful in this position. Seasonal Full Time role requires flexibility to work weekends and nights.

Wage: $26.00 to $28.50 per hour

Note: If successful candidate has equipment operator experience, a dual role may be available as a back-to-back (summer and winter season) full time role

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Work with and under Supervisor, Trails and Roads to ensure all outdoor trails, roads and parking lots are maintained
• Operate equipment and trucks in a safe and responsible manner
• Operate machinery for event preparation and track hours for billing purposes
• Assist mechanics with machinery maintenance and repairs
• Build and maintain recreational trails using a variety of tools and equipment
• Landscaping duties as assigned
• Maintain machinery records
• Perform daily machine checks
• Adhere to WorkSafeBC, Technical Safety BC and applicable governing agency’s safety regulations
• Interact with volunteers to ensure their inclusion in department team
• Carry out Whistler Sport Legacies’ AIM philosophy: All Interactions Matter
• Assist team with other duties as assigned or required
• Flexibility to work weekends and evenings

Position Requirements
Education/Experience
• 1-3 years’ experience operating machinery
• Valid BC Driver’s License required
• Valid Unrestricted Class 4 Driver’s license an asset
• OFA Level 1 to 3 certification an asset
• Chainsaw experience an asset

• Knowledge of radio protocol
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Keen and can-do attitude
• Technical and mechanical aptitude
• Flexible and adaptable to work efficiently in variety of settings and to work weekends and evenings
• Capacity to work well under pressure while maintaining work performance
• Interpersonal and organizational skills facilitating working relationships with managers, supervisors, co-workers, volunteers and public
• Proven ability to work alone as well as with a team
• Resolve conflicts effectively and efficiently
• Willingness to assist other team members (at times outside of the department) as needed and requested
• Passion for exceptional customer service is essential

Physical Requirements
• Mobility to work in a garage/shop and yard or remote environment
• Reliable transportation (WOP is not serviced by transit)
• Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to regularly lift 50lbs

Salary/Wage

26.00 to $28.50 per hour
