The application deadline has been extended to February 3, 2021.

The Canada Summer Jobs program provides wage subsidies for not-for-profit organizations, the public sector, and private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees. This Federal government program is an initiative of the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy, which aims to provide flexible and holistic services to help all young Canadians between the ages of 15 and 30 gain valuable and quality summer work experiences in various sectors.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic a number of flexibilities have been added to the program for 2021:

  • Approved public and private sector employers will be eligible for a wage subsidy reimbursement of up to 75% of the provincial or territorial minimum hourly wage.
  • Unlike previous years where funding would end in the fall, employers will be able to hire youth between the periods of April 26, 2021 and February 26, 2022 with the updated Canada Summer Jobs program.
  • While employers are encouraged to offer quality jobs on a full-time basis (35 hours per week), part-time positions with a minimum of 12 hours per week will also be eligible for funding.

Submit your application here before February 3, 2021 to ensure your business gets approved for the upcoming summer season and beyond. The application form for the Canada Summer Jobs program has been simplified to make it less time consuming for you to complete.
